Patrol Rifle Training (10E)

Patrol Rifle training is a tactical weapons course focusing on proficiency and tactical maneuvers while using long rifles. Students must first successfully complete Security Officer Handgun Training (75E) as a prerequisite prior to registering for this course (10E).

    • Nomenclature/identification of rifle parts

    • Field striping and reassembling

    • Loading and unloading

    • Chambering

    • Reloading

    • Slings

      • Traditional sling

      • Single point sling

      • 3 Point sling

    • Transition from handgun to rifle/rifle to handgun

    • Malfunctions

    • Immediate actions procedures

    • Remedial action

    • Proper care and maintenance

    • Rifle retention

    • Ammunition management and identification

    • Range safety

    • Dim light/low light
       

  2. Fundamentals of rifle marksmanship

    • Grip

    • Stance (position)

    • Sight alignment

    • Sight picture

    • Trigger control

    • Breathing

    • Follow through
       

  3. ​Zeroing iron sights

    • Establishing mechanical zero

    • Zeroing process​
       

  4. ​Dim light shooting

    • Hours of darkness/dim light

    • Identification requirements

    • Unaided reduced light shooting techniques

    • Aided reduced light shooting techniques
       

  5. ​Shooting positions

    • Fundamentals of shooting positions

    • Basic patrol positions
